Redd Kross @ HoZac Blackout Fest 2012 (more by John Yingling)
California-based outfit Red Kross returned with their first album in 15-years in 2012, titled Researching the Blues. They also did a bit of touring in support of the LP, which included a headlining performance at HoZac Blackout Fest 2012 at the Empty Bottle. The four-piece are set to tour Australia with Dinosaur Jr. in March, and they have also announced that they'll be playing the Empty Bottle again on April 13. Tickets for the Chicago show go on sale TODAY (Wednesday, January 23) at noon CST.

Saturday night was headlined by Redd Kross, serving as one of the group's two recent US shows. As mentioned, their first album in over 15-years, Researching the Blues, hits stores in August via Merge. Download the album's title track at the top of this post and/or listen below. Along with the pictures, we've also got a few videos of their headlining set.
Gentleman Jesse & His Men, Homostupids, Fungi Girls, Teledrome, Pleasure Leftists, Far Out Fangtooth, Ketamines, Barreracudas, and White Mystery all played the Bottle on Saturday as well.

Redd Kross' Researching the Blues
Redd Kross have inked a deal with Merge Records, who will release the band's first album in over 15-years, Researching the Blues, on August 7 in the US. The LP is up for preorder in CD/LP via Merge's webstore. As mentioned many times, Redd Kross are one of the headliners of the 2012 HoZac Blackout Fest, which takes place next weekend (May 18-20) at the Empty Bottle. As a warm-up gig for the Chicago festival, the band are also playing the Tripple Rock Social Club in Minneapolis on May 18 (Mannequin Men open).

Hozac Records, the folks behind the annual Blackout Fest - taking place at the Empty Bottle this year from May 18-20 - have announced that their lineup will include Roky Erickson, Davilla 666, Gentleman Jesse, Human Eye, Bare Mutants, Fungi Girls, Mentally Ill, Rayon Beach, Pleasure Leftists, Ketamines, Teledrome, Plateaus, Video, Cozy, Spider Fever, ET Habit, Barreracudas, White Mystery, Estrogen Highs, and Medication.
The above acts are in addition to the previously announced: Redd Kross, Screaming Yellow Zonkers, Homostupids, and Far-Out Fangtooth.
