Murder by Death @ Do Division 2012 (more by Sarah Frankie Linder)

Bloomington, Indiana's Murder by Death have unveiled a video for "Lost River" from their 2012 LP, Bitter Drink, Bitter Moon (Bloodshot Records). The track is carried by MbD's oaken-voiced frontman Adam Turla, and its visual accompaniment was directed by O'Death's Gabe Darling. Check out the clip at the bottom of this post.
Murder by Death will be embarking on a large summer // fall North American tour next week. That tour finishes off with a performance at Reggie's on September 29, with support from Larry and His Flask and The Blind Staggers. Tickets for the Chicago show go on sale this Friday (5/24) at noon CST.

Butterclock at Reggie's on 4.16.2013

Butterclock released the digital version of her EP last month (4/15), which included the Grimes-esque track, "Holograms," which didn't appear on the physical version. Last week, she dropped the video for that track, and you can watch that below.
The day after the digital release of her EP, Butterclock brought her tour through Chicago for a show at Reggie's with Teen Witch, Magicks, Shuteye, and Moon River. A set of pictures from that show are in this post.

Dawes @ The Parish during SXSW 2013 (more by Sarah Frankie Linder)

Dawes are set to welcome their new album, Stories Don't End, on April 9 via Red General Catalog (US) // Hub Records (Canada). A video playlist can be found at the bottom of this post, which includes a lyric video for their slick new single "From A Window Seat," studio footage // brief interviews, and an LP trailer.
Dawes are currently on tour throughout North American, and won't head home for good until late-July. That tour includes a FREE, 6PM show at Reggie's on April 1. Admission will be on a first-come, first-served basis (21+ only), and you can enter to win guaranteed entry for two HERE.

Los Angeles-based hip hop trio Pac Div welcomed their second studio album, GMB, in November of 2012 via RBC Records. The solid LP features guest appearances from Kendrick Lamar, Blu, and others, as well as production from The Cool Kids' Chuck Inglish, Pac Div member Like, and more. Stream "Cross-Trainers" featuring Kendrick Lamar and Blu, and check out their brand new video for "Savages" at the bottom of this post.
Pac Div will head to Austin, TX for SXSW, and then will use the festival to kick off their spring North American tour. That tour includes a performance at Reggie's on March 25 with Johnny Polygon, After the Smoke, and Taylor Bennett. Advance tickets for the Chicago show are on sale now.

As you may already know, Black Flag have reformed and will be releasing a new album sometime this year. Their lineup consists of Greg Ginn on guitar, Ron Reyes on vocals, Gregory Moore on drums, and Dale Nixon (which is just Ginn's pseudonym) on bass. That lineup are beginning to reveal some summer tour dates, including a pair of shows at Reggie's on June 8 & 9. Good For You will act as main support, and tickets for both shows go on sale this Saturday (2/23) at noon CST.

As seen on BrooklynVegan, young Brooklyn-based rapper Joey Bada$$ has unveiled his international "Beast Coast Tour" with BC cohorts Flatbush Zombies and The Underachievers. That tour will kick off at South by Southwest in Austin, TX, and will reach Chicago for a performance at Reggie's on April 11. Tickets for the Chicago show go on sale this Friday (2/22) at noon CST.

Bolt Thrower will return to the U.S. for a string of dates dubbed "Return to Chaos!" The run will surround their upcoming appearances at Maryland Deathfest and Chaos in Tejas, and includes only one other show east of the Mississippi River: a performance at Reggie's on June 1 with Benediction. Tickets go on sale this Friday (2/15) at noon CST.

Royal Thunder @ the Beat Kitchen in September (more by Carmelo Espanola)

As discussed, Enslaved, Pallbearer, and Ancient VVisdom are teaming up for a winter North American tour. Bluesy greats Royal Thunder have now been added to that tour, which includes a February 3 show at Reggie's. Advance tickets for that show are still available.

Action Bronson @ MHoW in August (more by Ryan Muir)

Action Bronson hit the road with Cypress Hill earlier this year. As you might remember, the two acts were originally supposed to appear at the Double Door together on November 4. Cypress Hill had to reschedule some dates due to the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy, and those rescheduled dates-- including a December 3 performance at the Double Door-- did not include an opening set from Action. Though he didn't make it to Chicago earlier this month, Action was scheduled to appear at Reggie's tonight (December 29). He's since moved that performance to January 27, and all tickets will be honored. More will be on sale soon; check Ticketsfly for updates.
UPDATE: Tickets for Action Bronson's January 27 show are on sale now.
Since Action Bronson can't make it tonight, Chance the Rapper headlines a FREE show at Reggie's. Chuck Inglish, Johnny Polygon, and Impala Sound Champions will open the show, and you don't need to RSVP for entry.

We've been talking New Year's Eve for quite some time, and since the world didn't end last week, all the great shows and parties we told you about are still happening.

"The Screaming Eagle of Soul" himself, Charles Bradley, will be visiting Chicago for a two-night stand at Lincoln Hall on December 30 & 31. Advance tickets are still available for both shows, and though his New Year's Eve performance will cost you twice as much as the 30th, you'll receive complimentary drink tickets, appetizers, and a Daptone Records drop card for a free digital sampler.
Speaking of Lincoln Hall, their sister venue Schubas will be hosting Maps & Atlases on December 30 & 31. Gypsyblood will act as main support on the 30th, Santah will open the show on New Year's Eve, and advance tickets for both shows are still available. There's also a two-show pass for sale.
Screeching Weasel are celebrating their 27th anniversary with a two-night run at Reggie's on December 30th & 31st. Though Night 1 (with The Queers, The Manges, and Vatican Junkies) is sold out, advance tickets for Night 2 (with The Queers, The Manges, and They Stay Dead) are still available.
Local H are playing the Beat Kitchen on December 30 (with State & Madison) & 31 (with All Eyes West). Their NYE show is sold out, but tickets are still available for their 12/30 performance.
Tilly and the Wall are yet another act that will be playing two Chicago shows during New Year's Eve weekend. You'll be able to find them at Subterranean on December 30 (with California Wives) & 31 (with My Gold Mask and DJ CC Rider). Advance tickets for both shows are still available.
Butch Walker and Dick Prall are also playing two nights in Chicago. They'll appear at the Double Door on December 30 and at the Bottom Lounge on December 31. Both shows are sold out.
The Eternals will be performing "the Espiritu Zombi Suite," a piece written for a larger group-version of the band, at the Hideout on New Year's Eve. As discussed, core members Damon Locks, Wayne Montana, and Areif Sless-Kitain will be joined by six additional musicians on vibes, coronet, flute, saxophone, and more. Chandeliers will act as main support and will also play a DJ set around midnight. Advance tickets are still available.
"The Queen of Rockabilly," Wanda Jackson, will be headlining the Double Door on New Year's Eve. JD Wilkes and the Dirt Daubers, Burlesque le' Moustache, and Soul Summit DJs will open the show. Advance tickets are still available.
Alejandro Escovedo and his band The Sensitive Boys are set to play SPACE in Evanston, IL on New Year's Eve. Nicholas Tremulis will open the show, and advance tickets are still available.
Naked Raygun and The Dwarves are playing the Cobra Lounge on New Year's Eve. Though advance tickets are sold out, there may be a small amount available for purchase at the door.
Denton, TX's The Marked Men are playing the Empty Bottle on December 31 with Bad Sports and Terrible Twos (tickets). As discussed, Marked Men side project Mind Spiders are playing the Bottle on December 29 with The Novice and Dumpster Babies (tickets).
Speaking of the Empty Bottle, they're also presenting Mucca Pazza, White Mystery, and Jon Drake & the Shakes at the Logan Square Auditorium on New Year's Eve (tickets). They're also doing "New Year's Eve: Two Thousand Turnteen" with The Hood Internet, Moon Boots, Only Children, and DJ Esquire at Beauty Bar (tickets).
JC Brooks & the Uptown Sound are set to play the final show of 2012 at Mayne Stage on December 31. Advance tickets for that show are still available.
The Airborne Toxic Event and On An On play Metro on New Year's Eve. Tickets are still available, and don't forget: Neurosis, Bloodiest, and The Atlas Moth play the venue on December 30 (tickets).
Magic Milk, Rabble Rabble, Vamos, Kodiak Farm Boys, The Electric Dollhouse Groove Buggy, Don't Forget Your Dinosaur, and The Sueves are ALL set to play Quenchers on New Year's Eve. Tickets will be available for purchase at the door.
Outer Minds, The Hello Hello, and Absolutely Not will be performing at The Burlington on December 31.
South Loop dive bar Cal's are closing on New Year's Day. They'll be throwing a farewell // New Year's Eve show, featuring performances by Mercy Mercy, Demerits, and Larroquettes.
Hannibal Buress is playing three shows at Zanies on New Year's Eve. Advance tickets for his three NYE shows in Chicago are sold out, but the Zanies box office might be holding onto some.
Perhaps you're looking for something a bit more electronic? Porter Robinson is coming to Chicago for a two-night stand at the Congress on December 30 & 31. Hardwell and Deniz Koyu will act as main support on the 30th, and Mat Zo and The M Machine will open the show on the 31. Advance tickets for both nights are still available. Paul Oakenfold is also playing Castle Nightclub (tickets).

You can smash, bang, and/or smang it with the crew-- whose tour vehicle had better be a turquoise-colored Jeep-- in Chicago at Reggie's this Thursday (11/15). Advance tickets are still available.

Del the Funky Homosapien is slated to head out on a US tour later this month. That tour begins on October 19 in his homestate of California, and will reach Chicago on October 25 for a performance at Reggie's. Bukue One, The B.E.A.T., Impolite Society, and DJ Zac Hendrix will act as main support, and advance tickets are on sale.
Del's most recent release, titled Attractive Sin, was a collaboration with the group Parallel Thought, and arrived this past June. You can stream the album in its entirety via bandcamp. Del also recently completed the follow-up to 2000's fantastic Deltron 3030, the self-titled album from his project with Dan the Automator and Kid Koala. That album doesn't have a release date, but the trio and a full orchestra have been playing select shows in support of it. Stay tuned for more information.

NYC-based emcee Smoke DZA is beginning to announce a fall North American tour, which features support from Mr. Muthafuckin' eXquire, Flatbush Zombies, Cashius Green w/ Pheo, and Nakim. That tour kicks off in Boston on October 2 and will reach Chicago's Reggie's for a performance on October 5. Mr. Muthafuckin' eXquire, Flatbush Zombies, Cashius Green w/ Pheo, Nakim, and Alex Wiley & Kembe X will act as main support, and advance tickets are on sale.
DZA dropped his most recent project, titled Rugby Thompson, in June. The album features guest appearances from Curren$y, Schoolboy Q, Action Bronson, and others. You can take a listen to the album tracks "Ashtray," with Domo Genesis and Schoolboy Q, and "Kenny Powers" at the bottom of this post.

As seen on BrooklynVegan, Los Angeles-based emcee Freddie Gibbs has been working on a new mixtape with DJ Drama titled Baby Face Killa. Back in May, he shared the track "Pull Up" from the project, which features Young Jeezy and T.I.. Today (9/6), Gibbs has dropped another, called "The Hard," which features vocals from Dana Williams. You can download both tracks at the top of this post and/or stream them below. Baby Face Killa is due out before the end of 2012.
Gibbs recently dropped a collaborative EP with Madlib, titled Shame. You can check out the video for the album's title track at the bottom of this post. The pair have also said they'll be releasing a full-length album, called MadGibbs, this fall.
Freddie has a short string of European tour dates, which begin in October. His only announced US show at the moment is a November 2 performance at Reggie's. Tickets for that show are not on sale yet, but check Reggie's website for updates.

Pennsylvania-based post-hardcore outfit Title Fight are gearing up for the release of their new record, Floral Green, due out on September 18 via SideOneDummy. You can check out the album's lead single, "Head In The Ceiling Fan," in video form at the bottom of this post.
Title Fight will embark on a brief European tour in late-September and then are set to return stateside for an October/November run with Pianos Become the Teeth and Canada's Single Mothers. That run begins on October 26 in Pittsburgh, PA and will visit Chicago for a performance at Reggie's on October 28. Detroit's Face Reality are also on the bill, and advance tickets are on sale.

Nachtmystium @ Lovejoys in Austin TX (BV-SXSW 2012) (more by Greg Cristman)

Local psychedelic black metal outfit Nachtmystium are set to play a hometown show at Reggie's tonight (7/31) in celebration of the release of their new LP, Silencing Machine. Murmur, Krieg, Drug Honkey, and Surachai are also on the bill, and tickets are still available. Stream Silencing Machine in its entirety via SPIN and purchase the album in a variety of formats HERE.
In related news, Thurston Moore has joined the black metal "supergroup" Twilight, which features Nachtmystium's Blake Judd and Sanford Parker, The Atlas Moth's Stavros Giannopolous, Leviathan's Wrest (aka Jef Whitehead), Krieg's Imperial (aka Neill Jameson), and Isis/Old Man Gloom's Aaron Turner. There has been talk of Moore joining the band since 2010, though he was not revealed as an official member until yesterday. A new Twilight album is slated to hit stores this fall via Century Media.

Taurus, the new project of Dark Castle guitarist Stevie Floyd and Ashley Spungin (of Purple Rhinestone Eagle fame), unveiled their debut LP, Life, yesterday (7/5). Take a listen to the doomy, two-track album at the bottom of this post.
As mentioned by BrooklynVegan, Taurus will be hitting the road with Agalloch later this month. The two bands will reach Chicago on July 20 for a performance at Reggie's (tickets).

The Olivia Tremor Control @ Bottom Lounge in September (more by John Yingling)

While they're visiting Chicago to play the Pitchfork Festival (on Friday, July 13), The Olivia Tremor Control will play a free (with RSVP) show at Reggie's on July 15. Country crooner Daughn Gibson will be opening the show.
Gibson will be doing a bit of touring with Yeasayer in August and is on board to open their show at the Vic on the 22nd of the month (tickets). In addition to his recently released LP, All Hell, Gibson put out a new 7" in early June. You can stream both sides ("Lite Me Up" / "The Mark of a Man") at the bottom of this post. Australian rapper Iggy Azalea, who visited NYC and New Jersey last week, is headed to Chicago for a June 2 performance at Reggie's. Jugrnaut DJs will act as main support and advance tickets are on sale.
In September of 2011, Azalea dropped her debut mixtape, Ignorant Art, which you can still download for FREE via her website. She's currently prepping both an EP titled Glory and her debut LP The New Classic for release this year.

As mentioned, Schoolboy Q and Ab-Soul play Reggie's tomorrow night (May 8), supported by Jugrnaut. Tickets for the show, which we don't suggest you miss, are still available. Q will also be hanging out at the Jugrnaut shop (427 S. Dearborn St.) from noon-3PM tomorrow afternoon.
