It's only been a few months since Rich Homie Quan, Young Thug and Birdman dropped their stellar mixtape Tha Tour Part 1 as Rich Gang, and Quan told HotNewHipHop that fans could expect the follow up to the trio's debut as early as Christmas Eve. The prospect of a part two hitting before Part 1 is finished topping year-end lists perfectly follows Young Thug and Rich Homie Quan's prolific output in the mixtape and remix scene since scoring attention off their 2013 tapes/singles.
Rich Gang spent November touring the south and the eastern seaboard, and their tour is hitting Chicago this month on December 26 at The Chicago Theatre. Tickets for that show are on sale now.
Young Thug also appears in Noisey's new 36-rapper, 42-minute posse cut "The Rap Monument." The Hudson Mohawke-produced track features rappers from all over, including Pusha T, Danny Brown, Killer Mike, YG, Action Bronson, Raekwon and more. it's 3D, do you have a pair of glasses?
Young Chicago rapper Rockie Fresh entered the game in 2009 with his debut mixtape, Rockie's Modern Life. Fresh continued to pick up steam with 2010's The Otherside and 2011's The Otherside Redux, and then really showed us he was out to make a name for himself with 2012's excellent Driving 88. Back in July, he inked a deal with Maybach Music, who will be releasing his new tape, Electric Highway, on January 21 and his as-of-yet untitled debut LP later this year. You can watch the video for Electric Highway's lead single, "Nobody," at the bottom of this post. You can also download "Nobody" for free via a widget below (in exchange for your email address).
Rockie Fresh will be playing a pair of record release shows for Electric Highway: One at NYC's SOB's on January 23 with Lunice and another at the Bottom Lounge on February 2 with Chance the Rapper, Mark Battles, and R.O.E.. Up and coming Chicago rapper Rockie Fresh has signed with Rick Ross' Maybach Music Group (cue the ever-present Australian girl saying the label's name) and is set to head out on tour for the next few months. In August, he'll be supporting fellow MMG signee Meek Mill on his Dreamchasers tour. That tour includes a Chicago show at the House of Blues on August 17 (tickets). Rockie will also head out on his own tour, the Electric Highway, in September, which includes a hometown show at Metro on October 20 (tickets).

SBTRKT @ the House of Blues on 4/07/2012
Willis Earl Beal @ the House of Blues on 4/07/2012
On Saturday night (April 7), SBTRKT toured through Chicago, making a stop at the House of Blues. As per usual, vocalist Sampha was along for the ride and aside from being the project's mouthpiece, he also handled some live keyboard duties. Late in the show, local rapper Rockie Fresh made a cameo for the song "Never Never," which he samples heavily in his own track of the same name (check out a video clip of that below). The duo's set was energetic and enjoyable, as was opener/label-cousin Willis Earl Beal's.
Willis just finished up a short string of North American dates with SBTRKT , that probably shouldn't have happened in the first place. The crowd (at least at the Chicago show) was far too geared towards the electronic music scene and the stark contrast between the opener and headliner stuck out like a sore thumb. Nonetheless, Willis put on a powerful live set though not many concertgoers seemed to care (read: it was depressing).

The tour kicks off this weekend right here in Chicago, with a Reebok presented showcase at Reggie's on Sunday, February 26th. Rockie will headline the event with support from L.E.P. Bogus Boys (who were recently featured on Raekwon's new tape), AILite Ent, Lungz, Scheme, and Astonish with DJ Scend. Advance tickets are on sale and you will also be able to purchase them at the door.
The tour will bring Rockie down to SXSW for Thursday and Friday (3/15+16) of the fest.
