Chick Quest releasing 'Model View Controller' (stream "Exit Strategy")

Vienna’s Chick Quest released their debut album Vs. Galore in 2015 and they’re set to follow it with Model View Controller on February 24 via Triangular Sounds (pre-order). We’re premiering “Exit Strategy” from the album in this post. It’s an atmospheric, low-key pop song with an admitted influence of Ennio Morricone’s spaghetti western scores. Here’s what the band tells us about the song:

Despite almost every other song on the album evolving slowly out of what seemed like a never-ending period of writer’s block, “Exit Strategy”— the last song to be written for the album— was started and completed in less than an hour just days before we were scheduled to go into the recording studio. Everything about its instrumentation and lyrics seemed to flow out freely at the last minute from our singer and songwriter, Ryan, which is ironic considering the lyrics are disjointed snippets of scenarios depicting something getting stuck and trying to escape.
