Choking Victim added to this weekend's Tompkins Square Park police riot anniversary

When the lineup was announced for the two-day concert commemorating the Tompkins Square Park police riot 30th anniversary, there was a TBA band for Sunday (8/5). Stza Crack’s bands often take part in these concerts, so it may not surprise you that the TBA band is Choking Victim (whose shows are pretty rare these days). They’re the last band of the day, at 5 PM following sets by Team Spider, David Huberman, Skitzopolis, Zero Content and Dying Breed.

The Saturday (8/4) lineup wraps up with NYHC vets Breakdown at 5 PM, following Sea Moinster, Iconicide, Professor Louie and Jennifer Blowdryer.

Unfortunately, Disassociate, Urban Waste, and The F.U.’s are no longer playing.

Here’s more: “After the August 5 show in the park, there will be a multi-media presentation at the Museum Of Reclaimed Urban Space [MORUS], located at 155Avenue C, starting at 7pm, linking two generations of resistance. Comic slide shows by Eric Drooker + Seth Tobocman, with music. There will also be a screening of BY ANY MEANS NECESSARY, a classic documentary on the Tompkins Square Movement. Additional speakers and performers to be announced.” More info here.

And here’s an excerpt of Chris Iconicide’s statement on the weekend’s events:

This year, to mark the 30th Anniversary of the Tompkins Square Park Police Riots, organizers in the area, along with the new face of today’s activist youth, will present an extended weekend of socially and politically charged art shows, educational presentations, documentary screenings and live music performances both in and around Tompkins Square Park. More than a commemoration, this is both a declaration of endurance by those who have kept up the fight for three decades, and a clarion call that the cancer of gentrification and commodification warping and pillaging the Lower East Side must be thwarted, not only by those with a sense of history, but by anyone with a sense of self respect and humanity.

As mentioned, there will be another two-day commemoration happening September 8 and 9. For this one, they are “also commemorating the 17th anniversary of the false flag operation on September 11, 2001, commonly referred to as “9/11″, that opened the doors to a full-scale POLICE STATE in the US.” Speakers and performers TBA.

Speaking of Breakdown, they also play Philly and Brooklyn with Bold in October.
