Chumped announce debut LP, share track, add tour dates (one w/ Plow United); Beach Slang EP out now & streaming

by Andrew Sacher

Chumped at BK Bazaar earlier this month (more by Mimi Hong)

We recently mentioned that following their two EPs, Brooklyn’s Chumped would be releasing their first full length later this year. It’s now been announced that the album’s called Teenage Retirement and it will be out on November 18 via Anchorless Records. Its first single, “Songs About Boats,” recently premiered over at Noisey and from the sound of it, Chumped are continuing to make terrifically executed real-deal pop punk. If the term “pop punk” still puts a bad taste in your mouth, “Songs About Boats” is the kind of song that could remind you that you do in fact have a scratched-up copy of Dookie at your parents’ house, and that there is a part of you that sometimes wants nothing more than palm-muted power chords done right. Chumped do it right, so take a listen for yourself, below.

Chumped also have a bunch of tour dates coming up, including three in their hometown. First, they open the NYC stop of the Cheap Girls / Beach Slang / Lee Corey Oswald / Signals Midwest tour happening October 14 at Saint Vitus (tickets), and then as discussed their tour with PUP hits Mercury Lounge on November 7 (tickets). Since we last spoke, Typefighter were added to that show too. Right before the year ends, Chumped play Acheron on December 30 with the reactivated Plow United headlining, plus Mikey Erg, Up for Nothing and Hatrabbits (tickets). Updated list of Chumped’s dates below.

Speaking of Beach Slang, their excellent new EP is out today (9/30) via Tiny Engines, and that can be streamed in full below as well…
