Church of Misery postpones tour again; cancels NYC date

Church of Misery can’t catch a break. The Japanese doom band’s upcoming North American tour has been beset from all sides by hold-ups and setbacks. First, openers The Gates of Slumber broke up. Then, the Great Government Shutdown Kerfuffle of 2013 caused visa issues for the band and delayed the first half of the tour.

Those visa issues are apparently ongoing, because according to the band’s Facebook, the tour has been postponed again. There’s bad news this time — it looks like the band’s 11/12 date at Saint Vitus has been canceled entirely. Major bummer, especially if you haven’t seen Church of Misery live before. On the bright side, their date no longer conflicts with Morbid Angel‘s Covenant performance at Irving Plaza the same night (tix here). That counts as a bright side, right?

Fingers crossed for Church of Misery to reschedule their NYC date for later in the tour. In the meantime, stream a song and check out the updated tour schedule below.
