Cian Nugent and Nap Eyes releasing new albums, touring together this spring (dates, song streams)

Dublin’s Cian Nugent made a name for himself as a skilled musician via his first two albums which were both mostly instrumental. For his new album, he’s doing something different: singing. Night Fiction, which is out next week (1/29) via Woodsist, finds him to be a talented lyricist and capable singer as well. Fans of Kevin Morby, Kurt Vile and other noodle-friendly post-VU guitar pop, take note. You can stream the whole album below..

Cian will be on tour with Halifax, Nova Scotia’s Nap Eyes and dates include Brooklyn’s Union Pool on March 9. Tickets for that show are on sale now. Dates also include a stop in Hudson, NY and they’ll be at SXSW as well. All are listed below.

Nap Eyes, meanwhile, will release Thought Rock Fish Scale on February 5 via Paradise of Bachelors. The spectre of Lou Reed and all that followed hangs over this record, too, which chugs along in a pleasing, gentle way. Like ’80s Flying Nun, King Creosote and Galaxie 500? Check out “Roll It” below.
