Cloud Nothings releasing new album ‘Life Without Sound,’ share song, expand tour

Cloud Nothings will release their new album, Life Without Sound, on January 27 via Carpark/Wichita. It was produced by Sleater-Kinney producer John Goodmanson (“the biggest Harvey Danger fan I’ve ever met,” CN singer Dylan Baldi says), and the first single is “Modern Act.” They played the song at NYC’s Villain last night and just debuted it on Sirius XMU, along with an interview. It’s an instantly-appealing Cloud Nothings song, with a pre-chorus that gets a little quieter/cleaner than they usually do, but a bridge that nears classic-punk territory. Listen here. As revealed at last night’s Brooklyn show and in their new promo picture (below), Cloud Nothings are a four-piece again. They’ve now got Chris Brown of Cloud Nothings-related band Total Babes (and also formerly of the CN-related Chomp), though Chris is only a live member and not on the new album.

The band also announced a tour including larger NYC show happening February 1 at Webster Hall. Tickets go on sale Friday (10/14) at 10 AM. All dates are listed below.
