Connections prep ‘Foreign Affairs’ (watch “Love Me Still” video), touring w/ Kurt Vile
Ohio indie rock stalwarts Connections will release their new album Foreign Affairs on May 11 via Trouble in Mind. These guys pull from the classic sound of beer-fueled college rock — The Replacements, Guided by Voices — and are great songwriters too. We’ve got the premiere of the video for the anthemic “Love Me Still” which the band’s Kevin Elliott tells us is an homage to ’80s Boston band Three Colors:
The video is a riff on a video that used to play on Night Flight ages ago by a Boston band called Three Colors. We really loved the bright pixels and the primitive technology they used and asked our friend Mike Postalakis if he could replicate that feel. We’ve worked with Mike in the past and he always has a good answer to our original vision. This one star’s his comedy troupe from L.A. – The Dickheads – pretty funny stuff, but I love the darkness of it in the end.
You can watch that, and the Three Colors video it’s a riff on, below.
Following a record release in the band’s hometown of Columbus, Connections will be on tour with Kurt Vile for a few of his East Coast shows, including New Haven’s College Street Music Hall on 6/15 and Jersey City’s White Eagle Hall on 6/16. Tickets to both are still available. “It’s been timed perfectly with the release of Foreign Affairs, so it will be nice to introduce his crowd to our new stuff,” Kevin tells us. “We’ll likely also be playing a number of songs from our next album, as Andy never stops writing and we’ve had this record done for a while now. We are really excited to try some famous New Haven pizza.”
All Connections tour dates are listed, along with a couple other songs off the new album, below.
