Control Top share "Type A," playing shows, including Silent Barn

Philly’s Control Top released their self-titled debut EP back in 2016 that pulled from both ’90s Riot Grrrl and ’90s indie rock and, after undergoing some lineup changes, they’re now back with a ripping new single, “Type A.” Founding vocalist/bassist Ali Carter is now joined by drummer Alex Licktenhour (HIRS) and guitarist Al Creedon (Bleeding Rainbow), the latter of whom also recorded and mixed the debut EP and the new song. Compared to the EP, “Type A” is more rooted in sturdy, minimal post-punk and heavier noise rock, and Ali Carter is even more of a force than she is on the EP. She roars on this song, and she sounds like the kind of person you wouldn’t wanna mess with. Listen to “Type A” and the S/T EP below. Control Top also revealed that they’re currently finishing up their debut full length.

Control Top have some shows coming up in the Northeast, including a Brooklyn show at the soon-to-close Silent Barn on March 31. That show is with Control Top’s Philly neighbors Empath, new NYC band Privacy, and readings by Jenn Pelly, NM Esc, and Carlos Salas. Tickets are on sale. All dates are listed below.
