coronavirus tour cancellation updates: Adam Sandler, Soccer Mommy, Tallest Man, more

With measures trying to stop the spread of the coronavirus really ramping up — and many cities ordering bars, restaurants and clubs closed — tours through spring (and a few beyond) are being postponed/canceled left and right. CARIBOU

Caribou are “postponing all of the concerts we had planned during March and April in North America, the UK and the EU.” They say “We are working on rescheduling these dates later in the year and will have full information on the rescheduled dates shortly.”

AMANDA SHIRES

The remainder of Amanda Shires’ 2020 tour has been postponed. “I really wish I could continue the tour for y’all,” Amanda writes. “We will be rescheduling and coming to see you as soon as we can. Big love ❤️.”

THE KILLERS

The Killers recently announced a massive tour, including a North American run with support from Johnny Marr, that was set to go on sale this Friday. For now, though, that on sale date is on hold:

THE TALLEST MAN ON EARTH

The Tallest Man on Earth’s North American tour was set to start this weekend the March dates — including stops in Chicago, San Francisco and Los Angeles — have been postponed to August and September. “Your ticket is valid for the new date and if you can’t make it, you can get a refund at the point of purchase,” says Kristian Matsson. “I’m sad but also it seems important to look at the big picture here and try to be smart and focus on being safe. I’ll see you this summer.” The East Coast Dates, lined for May (including NYC’s Webster Hall on 5/14 & 5/15) are still on for now. Updated dates are here.

CURRENT 93

Long-running and prolific “Hallucinatory Patripassianist rock group” Current 93, led by David Tibet, were set to play their first NYC shows in two decades in April, supporting their 2018 album The Light is Leaving Us All. They were previously scheduled to tour in 2011, but those dates were postponed and ultimately never happened. Unfortunately, their 2020 shows have also been postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic and have been rescheduled for next year.

UNITED BLOOD

Richmond hardcore festival United Blood was set to go down on April 3 & 4 with Converge, Cold World, War Hungry, Vein, Mindforce, Never Ending Game, Regulate, Division of Mind, Judiciary, and more, but it’s postponed until further notice:

BLACK LABEL SOCIETY / OBITUARY

Black Label Society have postponed the remainder of their tour with Obituary and Lord Dying, and Obituary say “we will do everything in our power to be a apart of the rescheduled dates so, hang tight and stay tuned.”

Elton John has postponed his ‘Farewell Yellow Brick Road’ tour through May 2, including his four NYC-area arena shows.

Health officials say that large gatherings should be avoided to help stop or prevent the spread of the coronavirus, so we will reschedule the dates once things are back to normal. Stay safe, wash your hands, don’t make out with Schneider, and we will get through this like champs. Look forward to having a great night with you soon.”
