Cosmonauts cover The Beach Boys' "Caroline No" on new 'Pet Sounds' tribute (listen)

As mentioned, there’s a Pet Sounds tribute album being put out by Reverberation Appreciation Society, in conjunction with Brian Wilson performing the LP in full at this year’s Levitation. (Black Angels, Morgan Delt, Boogarins, Night Beats among them.) We’ve got the premiere of Cosmonauts‘ contribution, “Caroline No.” One of the most delicate songs on Pet Sounds, the Fullerton, California band have taken it down the k-hole a bit, while retaining those gorgeous harmonies. Says bandmember Derek Cowart:

“Caroline, No” is a really beautiful and calming track off of Pet Sounds, probably the densest and most beautiful album by the Beach Boys. So we approached it almost as a lullaby… albeit a minimal and fairly eerie one.

Stream Cosmonauts’ “Caroline No,” as well as a few other tracks off the tribute LP, below. The album’s out May 27.

This is the first new recording from Cosmonauts in a while. “After non-stop touring for a few years, we had to take some time off and get some sanity back,” Cowart told us. “We needed that break to focus on recording our new album, A-OK!, which should be coming out in August.” Be on the lookout for that.
