Courtney Love performed Hole songs w/ Melissa Auf der Maur & more @ Basilica Hudson benefit (video)

Saturday night (10/27) was the “Pioneering People Basilica Benefit: Courtney Love” benefit for (and at) Basilica Hudson that honored the onetime Hole leader. Courtney Love was center stage for part of it, first in conversations with Hole bassist (and Basilica Hudson co-founder) Melissa Auf der Maur, and they later performed “Softer Softest” with Roddy Bottum (Faith No More / Imperial Teen), and then at the end of the night played “Doll Parts” and “Miss World” with the Hold Steady’s Tad Kubler and the Rock Academy Rebel Girls.

In between: Kiki & Herb’s Justin Vivian Bond and Kenny Mellman performed Hole’s Old Age,” with other tributes and performances by Zia Anger & Annie Bielski, Davon, and Meredith Graves.  There were also video tributes from Hole members Patty Schemel and Eric Erlandson, plus John Waters, Natasha Lyonne (who read Hole’s “Teenage Whore” lyrics), Rufus Wainwright, Marina Abramovic, and others. Michael Stipe, who was supposed to be at the benefit, was ill and sent in a video message instead.

Watch video of Courtney Love’s performances, as well as a few of the video tributes and a few pics, below.

✨⭐️⭐️✨ Last night @kennymellman and I had one of those rare and wonderful moments where we got to honor and thank someone whose music we have been living, loving, and performing for years as we celebrated the pioneering spirit of @courtneylove (in a beautiful @prabalgurung dress, btw. I was wearing @isseymiyakeusa) at Melissa Auf der Maur’s @xmadmx @basilicahudson gala in Hudson. We performed ‘Old Age’ in front of the sold out crowd who came out during the nor’easter to bask in the glow of Courtney’s celebrity skin. The highlight of the evening was when the goddess herself took the stage to perform with @roddybottum on piano backed by a band of teenage girls from the @rockacademyofficial in Woodstock. Several members of Courtney’s family were there including her gorgeous daughter Frances @space_witch666. It was truly a Love fest. So thrilled and honored to be included. #glamourisresistance
