Courtship Ritual & Alum released new EPs on Godmode (listen), playing shows

Brooklyn duo Courtship Ritual have a new EP out via Godmode titled Chary which is five new tracks of their sinewy, danceable style of pop. It’s a just a little sunnier than their 2014 album Pith, but still has a gothy vibe to it. (I keep thinking of Love and Rockets when I listen to them, though they do not sound like L&R per se.) Nobody else in NYC is quite like them, and you can stream the whole EP, and watch the very cool video for “Blunt as Naive,” below.

Courtship Ritual have a couple Brooklyn shows on the horizon: a Chary release party on October 24 at Secret Project Robot with Alum, Soft Ethnic, and Naked Heroes ($10 at the door); and new Bushwick venue Elsewhere Zone One on November 11 with Vancouver band Humans (tickets).

Alum, meanwhile, is the new project from Tyle McCauley of Motion Studies and they just released their debut EP, Yours in the Dark, via Godmode which is sort of early ’00s electronic postpunk pop. You can stream that below as well, and the Secret Project Robot show will be their live debut.
