Crazy Brains Into Ugly

Crazy & the Brains cover Jim Carroll's "People Who Died" on new LP (listen)

Super fun NJ punks Crazy & the Brains are gearing up to go on tour supporting the killer lineup of Leftover Crack and Negative Approach, and they’re also putting a new album out right before that tour begins. It’s called Into The Ugly, it was produced by Pete Steinkopf of The Bouncing Souls, and it drops November 23.

We’re premiering the lead single, which is a cover of The Jim Carroll Band‘s 1980 power pop classic “People Who Died” (which Against Me! also covered this year). It’s pretty faithful to the original, but revved up in that Crazy & the Brains way (and, as you’d expect from this band, embellished with xylophone). They also added in their own verse: “Baby look at me, living out the dream, and you swore, you were sure it could never be, left me all alone, damn that was cold, kicked in my head, cracked in my skull, eat a tostada naked yeah its good to be alive, if you didn’t make it see you on the other side.” Their version rips, and you can stream it below.
