Cut Worms streaming new 7″, opening for Wolf Parade, playing other NYC shows

cut-worms-goodbye-7

Cut Worms just released a new 7″ single, “I Don’t Want to Have to Say Goodbye,” via Randy Records. The a-side originally appeared on his 2015 cassette At Home and is one of his most winning Everly Brothers style songs. His voice just works perfectly with this style/production and it’s a great song in its own right. Stream it, and a few other songs, below.

His live performances are definitely on the charmingly quirky side. Sometimes he’s singing to a backing track (that often includes applause/laugh tracks timed to stage banter), and others he’s playing solo with a guitar. When he opened for Frightened Rabbit at Rough Trade last month, the crowd didn’t know what to make of him at first but were won over fairly quickly. He’s definitely worth seeing and has a few shows coming up, including Berlin on Tuesday (5/17) with Lomelda, and Ryan Sambol of The Strange Boys (tickets); and the final night (5/21) of Wolf Parade‘s sold-out Bowery Ballroom run. He’s also opening Steve Gunn‘s Northside show at Music Hall of Williamsburg on June 9 (tickets).
