Dan Deacon

Dan Deacon performing new piece 'An Opal Toad With Obsidian Eyes: Movement 1' at Fields Festival (listen to an excerpt)

The forever-eccentric Dan Deacon is playing his hometown-area fest Fields Festival this summer, and his set will have him performing the new and unreleased piece An Opal Toad With Obsidian Eyes: Movement 1 in its entirety. The piece was written by Dan, and performed by him along with the Calder Quartet and the NOW Ensemble, and we’re premiering a 12-minute clip of it. The clip begins as dissonant noise but it turns into something prettier, with droning ambient synths that sound like the soundtrack to waking up on a sunny summer day. Check it out below.
