Daniel Romano announces new album 'Mosey,' playing SXSW (watch the video for "Valerie Leon")
Canadian artist Daniel Romano is following last year’s If I’ve Only One Time Askin’ with a new album, Mosey, on May 27 via New West Records. The first single is “Valerie Leon,” which has massive strings and the kind of country psychedelia that brings Lee Hazlewood to mind. It’s a great song, and the video for it premieres in this post. For that video, Daniel found old footage of 1950s pin-up girls, including Bettie Page. Check it out, with the tracklist, below. That’s the album cover above.
Daniel is playing SXSW next week, and then heading over to Europe for a tour there in late spring/early summer. One of his SXSW shows is the FREE BrooklynVegan day party on Thursday at Cheer Up Charlies. He plays the inside stage with Little Scream, Ezra Furman, Julia Jacklin, Spookyland, PWR BTTM, Sorority Noise, and more. Daniel’s on at 1:30 PM (RSVP).
