Dave Chappelle hosting benefit block party for Dayton mass shooting victims

Dave Chappelle is hosting a benefit block party and concert in Dayton, Ohio for the victims of the August 4 mass shooting that happened there and left nine people dead. It’s called Gem City Shine and it will happen August 25 in the city’s downtown Oregon district which is where the shooting occured. Chappelle, who spent formative years in Yellow Springs just outside of Dayton, will host the event that will include “local and national entertainment,” who are still to be announced, with “performances throughout the late afternoon and evening.” Gem City Shine will go from 4-10 PM and will “honor the lives lost and to reclaim the community’s favorite places to shop, dine and enjoy time with family and friends.”

Gem City Shine is free, but you’ll need to claim tickets via Ticketmaster Verified Fan, and it’s limited to residents of Dayton and its surrounding areas. More information is available on the Gem City Shine Facebook event page.
