Dave Davies preps LPs and documentary, touring; Ray Davies knighted by Queen

Former Kinks guitarist Dave Davies has a few irons in the fire that are all potentially due this year: a new solo album; a collaborative album with his son, Russ, titled Open Road; and a documentary about his life, Dave Davies: Strangers. You can watch a trailer for Strangers, as well as a kooky holiday greeting Dave posted to YouTube, below.

While we wait for those, and continue to hope for a Kinks reunion (Dave and Ray played together a year ago), Dave will be in the US to play shows this spring. Dates include two nights at NYC’s City Winery on April 11 & 12. Tickets are on VinoFile presale right now and will be on sale to the general public today (1/5) at 3 PM. All known Dave Davies dates are listed below.

In other Davies news, Dave’s brother (and Kinks frontman) Ray has been knighted by The Queen. Ray told the BBC, “Initially I felt a mixture of surprise, humility, joy and a bit embarrassed but after thinking about it, I accept this for my family and fans as well as everyone who has inspired me to write.”
