David Berman (Silver Jews, Purple Mountains) has died

Devastating news. David Berman of Silver Jews and Purple Mountains has died at age 52. His label Drag City just confirmed the news, writing, “We couldn’t be more sorry to tell you this. David Berman passed away earlier today. A great friend and one of the most inspiring individuals we’ve ever known is gone. Rest easy, David.”

David had just released his great first album as Purple Mountains and was set to start their first tour this weekend. Rest in peace, David.
