David Crosby joined Jason Isbell onstage at Newport Folk Festival (watch)

Jason Isbell and The 400 Unit headlined Friday (7/27), the first day of the 2018 edition of Newport Folk Festival. Near the end of a set that drew largely from their excellent 2017 album The Nashville Sound, Jason welcomed a very special guest to the stage for a couple of songs – the legendary David Crosby. David joined the band for Crosby, Stills & Nash’s “Wooden Ships” and Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young’s “Ohio.” Watch a full song videos of both songs below, and check out the full setlist.

Newport Folk Festival continues throughout the weekend, and NPR is streaming some sets live. Stay tuned for more coverage, including more from Friday. UPDATE: Check out our pictures and recap of Friday HERE.

Jason Isbell and The 400 Unit’s next NYC show is at Forest Hills Stadium in September for The National’s There’s No Leaving New York festival. Tickets are on sale, and you can also enter to win a VIP experience that includes VIP two-day passes, soundcheck access, a hotel stay in Manhattan and more.
