Festival of Disruption

David Lynch curating LA festival with Robert Plant, St Vincent, music from 'Twin Peaks' & more

The David Lynch Foundation is presenting the first-ever Festival Of Disruption, which was curated by David Lynch himself. It goes down at the Ace Hotel and Theatre in downtown LA on October 8 & 9 with a pretty awesome lineup of Robert Plant & the Sensational Space Shifters, St. Vincent, Rhye, Jon Hopkins, Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith, and music from Lynch’s Twin Peaks by Angelo Badalamenti with Sky Ferreira (who appears in the new Twin Peaks) and Xiu Xiu (who knows his way around that music).

In addition to music, there will be talks by Frank Gehry, Mel Brooks, Kyle MacLachlan & Laura Dern, Blondie’s Debbie Harry & Chris Stein; photography exhibits by David Lynch (curated by Kayne Griffin Corcoran gallery) and Chris Stein; “virtual reality experiences” by Chris MIlk; a dance piece choreographed by Ryan Heffington; and DJ sets by Questlove and KCRW’s Jason Bentley.

Tickets go on sale Friday (6/24) at 10 AM PDT, and there’s a presale going on now (password = FRIEND). “100% of the proceeds from the festival benefit the David Lynch Foundation, whose mission is reducing toxic stress and trauma among at-risk populations, including victims of domestic violence, veterans suffering from PTSD, and underserved urban youth, through the evidence-based Transcendental Meditation technique.”
