David Wax Museum releasing LP prod. MMJ's Carl Broemel, touring (stream a song)

Charlottesville indie folk duo David Wax Museum (David Wax and Suz Slezak) will release their seventh album and first in four years, Line of Light, on August 23 via Nine Mile Records (pre-order). It was produced by My Morning Jacket’s Carl Broemel, who also played on the album, along with his MMJ bandmate Tom Blankenship. It also features contributions from Russ Pollard (ex-Sebadoh, Folk Implosion), Danilo Henriquez, Ben Kogan, and Paul Curreri. We’re premiering the new song “Uncover The Gold,” which is a beautiful-sounding song about a very ugly topic. The duo explain:

White nationalists gathered in our hometown of Charlottesville in August of 2017. We, along with everyone else in our community, have been struggling to process the hate rally and the anti-Semitic chants we heard in our otherwise quiet, progressive college town. I’ve seen our community radicalize in positive ways and strengthen as a result of this terrible event and wanted to write a song that reflected on how an awful situation can reveal something beautiful. I wrote this song for our children as a reminder that light can come out of darkness and as a prayer for a world with less strife and ugliness.

Listen to the new song and check out the artwork and tracklist below.

DWM are also touring this fall, hitting Baltimore, New Haven, Cleveland, Chicago, and more, and then doing a run of shows the week between Christmas and New Year’s that hits Philly, NYC, and DC.

The NYC show happens December 28 at Mercury Lounge. Ticket info for that show should be posted soon. All dates are listed below.
