Deafheaven‘s fourth album Ordinary Corrupt Human Love comes out July 13 via ANTI-, and after revealing the 12-minute lead single “Honeycomb” and a couple minute-long teasers of other songs, they have now released a second full song from the album, “Canary Yellow.” “Honeycomb,” while great as Deafheaven ever are, was kind of par for the course of what you’ve come to expect, but “Canary Yellow” shows the band taking a clear step forward. For the first time in their career, vocalist George Clarke deviates from his harsh scream and works in some somber, melodic singing, and it turns out that he’s got a knack for this kind of thing too. (There’s still plenty of screaming on this also-12-minute track, though.) Most of the usual Deafheaven ingredients are on “Canary Yellow,” but the singing towards the end effectively takes the song into territory that Deafheaven have really never gone. Listen below.

As mentioned, Deafheaven are touring North America with Drab Majesty and Uniform, including a NYC show on July 24 at Brooklyn Steel (tickets). Deafheaven also recently announced a European tour with Inter Arma. Updated dates are listed below.
