Dear Nora reunited, add East Coast shows

For most of the 2000s, Portland/San Francisco-based musician Katy Davidson led the lo-fi project Dear Nora. Katy and her revolving Dear Nora lineup (which at one point included Dave Longstreth) put out a handful of records during their initial run as a band, including a 2003 split with Mates of State on Polyvinyl, and toured with a handful of cool artists including YACHT and Casiotone for the Painfully Alone. Katy has also toured as a member of YACHT (and as a member of Gossip), and Casiotone for the Painfully Alone’s Owen Ashworth (who now goes as Advance Base) reissued Dear Nora’s 2004 LP Mountain Rock on his Orindal Records earlier this year (its first-ever vinyl release).

Dear Nora have also proved to be quite influential. Girlpool named a song after them, and Joyce Manor called them a “huge influence” on last year’s Cody.

Katy re-activated the moniker earlier this year to tour in support of the Mountain Rock reissue. Her current lineup has Zach Burba of iji, Gregory Campanile of I’ve Been Franklin, and Stephen Steinbrink. They toured the West Coast in January, and now they’re finally set to come East as well.

So far they’ve announced Hopscotch Festival and Philly and Brooklyn shows happening in September, and Katy says Chicago is TBA. Both Philly and Brooklyn are with Nicholas Krgovich opening.

The Philly show is September 12 at Johnny Brenda’s and also includes opener Hello Shark (tickets), and the Brooklyn show is September 13 at Silent Barn and also includes opener gobbinjr (tickets).
