Ben Gibbard has been busy lately focusing on The Postal Service reunion and his solo career, but he did recently make some festival appearances with Death Cab for Cutie to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Transatlanticism at Bumbershoot and Barsuk 15. Death Cab have now announced their first show of 2014 which happens in upstate NY on May 23 at CMAC with indie folkies The Head and the Heart. Tickets go on sale Friday (1/24) at noon with a Venue/Radio presale starting Thursday (1/23) at 10 AM.

Ben also did the score for Laggies the new Lynn Shelton-directed film starring Chloe Grace Moretz and Keira Knightley that just made its premiere at the ongoing Sundance Film Festival. A Hollywood Reporter review of the film reads:

It takes some funny eyes-askance interrogation from Rockwell to remind us just how questionable it is for a 28 year-old to start going to high school keggers and having slumber parties with a teenager. Knightley’s performance, convincingly desperate for anything that might point in a promising direction, makes sense of it while it’s happening. Seigel’s script earns its share of laughs while drawing not-too-blunt parallels between the adolescent dramas Megan witnesses and the difficulties she herself is having. Some kind of romantic collision between Megan and Craig is inevitable from their first scenes together, and the film integrates that unwise attraction into teen-movie shenanigans nicely.
