Death From Above 1979/AWOLNATION tour cancelled so AWOLNATION can tour with Prophets of Rage

DFA1979 at Lollapalooza 2015 (more by James Richards IV)

Earlier today, we mentioned that Prophets of Rage had to cancel some tour dates including Jones Beach, and that they added AWOLNATION as an opener to the tour. Since deciding to take this tour, AWOLNATION dropped off their headlining dates, which were to be opened by Death from Above 1979. Because of that, DFA1979 have decided to cancel those dates too, saying “we had nothing to do with [AWOLNATION’s] decision” and “the reality is that the costs of touring are simply too high for us to endeavor on such a short run.” Here’s their full statement:

Dear friends and fans, 😔😥😤
Late last week we learned that many of the dates we were scheduled to play with Awolnation were cancelled. We had nothing to do with that decision, but in turn we have decided to not participate in the remaining shows. We scrambled all weekend to try and still make things work, but there simply is no way. As boring and/or square as it is to say, the reality is that the costs of touring are simply too high for us to endeavor on such a short run. We were excited to come play your towns and spend the summer getting weird with you. All that fun will have to wait until the fall on our AMAZING tour with Black Rebel Motorcycle Club and Deap Vally. See you in October! DEATH FROM ABOVE (1979)
ps: For refund information please contact the retailer where you originally purchased your ticket.👎😾💩

The good news is… now you won’t have to see DFA1979 with AWOLNATION!

As previously mentioned, DFA1979 are going on a much more desirable tour with Black Rebel Motorcycle Club and Deap Vally in the fall, which hits NYC on November 8 at Terminal 5 (tickets).
