Death Valley Girls made a video starring Rodney Bingenheimer (watch), touring in September
Death Valley Girls‘ Glow in the Dark came out back the spring, a very appealing witches brew of garage, psych and glam. They’ve just made a video for the stomping “Disco,” which is an homage to exploitation horror flicks from the ’70s. The video stars legendary KROQ DJ Rodney Bingenheimer and it was directed by Kansas Bowling who recently made the new Troma movie BC Butcher. The synopsis via the band:
A fever dream trip filmed in blood color! A love letter to Rodney Bingenheimer’s English Disco, the ultra low budget horror flicks of H.G. Lewis and the hallucinatory underground films of Kenneth Anger. Shot on Super 8 by director Kansas Bowling and featuring Rodney Bingenheimer, Rodney flashes back to his legendary 70s nightclub, where he finds himself DJing a soundtrack to a disco bloodbath. Maybe one of Charlie Manson’s runaway followers is responsible for the carnage or maybe Rodney is just caught in a dream?

After a couple California dates with The Coathangers, Death Valley Girls will be heading out on a North American tour which has two NYC-area stops: September 28 at WFMU Monty Hall in Jersey City and September 29 at Shea Stadium. No openers announced yet, and tickets for both those shows will be on sale soon.
