Decibel has announced the lineup for Choosing Death Fest, a new festival to go down in Philly on April 16 at Union Transfer. The fest is in celebration of a new edition of Decibel editor-in-chief Albert Mundrian’s book Choosing Death: The Improbable History of Death Metal and Grindcore. The lineup is not exactly huge in quantity as far as “festivals” go but it is pretty stacked. Headlined by Dying Fetus, they’ve also booked Horrendous, Nails, Misery Index, Magrudergrind, Deceased, Noisem and Taphos Nomos. This is a rare chance to see Horrendous, who are from Philly and don’t play that many shows, despite coming in at #1 on Decibel’s best of 2015 list. Tickets for the big event go on sale Saturday (12/19) at noon.

This happens the day after the Decibel tour, which features Abbath, High On Fire, Skeletonwitch and Tribulation concludes its run at the same venue. So it should be a busy couple of days for Philly metalheads.

As far as notable items from the featured bands, Nails are about to get to work on a new album with usual producer Kurt Ballou, which ought to be completely brutal.
