Deerhoof streaming new LP, cover Def Leppard in new video ++ Market Hotel shows this week

Deerhoof ‘s new album, The Magic, is out this Friday (6/24) and you can stream it ahead of time via NPR. Deerhoof are known for pushing sonic boundaries and this one is no different. They pay homage to the various genres they grew up with, ranging from glammy track “Plastic Thrills” to funk in “Model Behavior.” Stream it below.

As mentioned, Deerhoof are kicking off their tour in support of their new LP with two shows at Brooklyn’s Market Hotel on Wednesday (6/22) with Ava Luna and C. Spencer Yeh (sold-out) and Thursday (6/23) with Kill Alters and Ed Balloon (tickets). All dates are listed below.

To celebrate their upcoming tour and new album, they’ve made a fun video of their cover of Def Leppard’s classic ’80s hit “Pour Some Sugar On Me” (with slightly updated lyrics by Deerhoof) which is from a limited-run of “mixtape” that was sent to those who pre-ordered The Magic, featuring other covers, such as Sonic Youth’s “Goo” and David Bowie’s “China Girl.” The video mashes up live footage of Deerhoof and Def Leppard and it premieres in this post.
