Chicago’s Dehd are made up of Emily Kempf (who until recently played live with Lala Lala), Ne-Hi singer-guitarist Jason Balla, and drummer Eric McGrady and make a hazy variety of indie rock where guitars aren’t strummed as much as used for snakey leads that wind around the bassline while Kempf and Balla trade vocals. They released a tape in 2016, an EP in 2017 and toured with Flasher earlier this year. The band will have a new album out via Fire Talk in 2019 and while that’s in the early stages, they have a new song, “Dying For,” which has a nice twang to it that asks “Is a dream worth dying for if you’re six feet underground?” That premieres in this post and you can listen below

Dehd will be on a short tour starting this weekend in Detroit and wraps up November 11 in their hometown at Thalia Hall opening for Grapetooth. In between they’ll play NYC’s Trans-Pecos on November 6 with Wooing and Patio (tickets).
