DeJ Loaf Liberated

DeJ Loaf reveals "Stories of Liberated People" doc, art instillation in NYC

DeJ Loaf has been talking about her anticipated debut album Liberated since 2016, when she revealed the title and that it would feature soul singer Leon Bridges. Now, about a year and a half later, she finally released the song with Leon, the title track. The song also came out during somewhat of a campaign with the “liberation” theme that DeJ has been taking on. It started on Friday, when the song was released and when DeJ covered the marriage license costs for several gay couples in NYC. It continued yesterday (6/20), when DeJ released a new documentary, “Stories of Liberated People,” where several individuals are interviewed on what it means to be liberated, and on if they feel liberated themselves. The video premiered at Sony Square in NYC, and DeJ now has an art instillation in that location will be open for the next week:

You can watch the documentary and the music video for the song “Liberated” below. DeJ also made a playlist with Lecrae called “Songs of Liberated People” which kicks off with her new song, and then also features music by Curtis Mayfield, Kendrick Lamar, John Coltrane, Prince, Frank Ocean, Funkadelic, Earth Wind & Fire, Cardi B, Kool & the Gang, Lauryn Hill, Joey Bada$$, Kelela, Solange, Andra Day, Anderson Paak, J Cole, Childish Gambino, OutKast, and more. You can listen to that below too.

DeJ will be back in NYC later this summer for a free SummerStage show at Ford Amphitheater at Coney Island on August 12.
