Descendents, Fucked Up & Night Birds played PlayStation Theater (pics, setlist)

Descendents released their very vital new album Hypercaffium Spazzinate earlier this year on Epitaph, their first in 12 years, and they brought their tour in support of it to NYC’s Playstation Theater on Saturday (10/8). All the shows on this tour have been opened by cool younger bands that have surely been influenced by Descendents. This one had hardcore rock opera makers Fucked Up and Fat Wreck Chords newcomers Night Birds. (So yes, between Fucked Up, Green Day and Titus Andronicus, NYC hosted three punk bands who’ve made rock operas on Saturday.)

Descendents played a fun, high-energy set that included favorites from all of their 30+ year career. The band was animated and clearly enjoying every minute of it. As always, Fucked Up frontman Damian Abraham was running all over the large venue, and the band put everything into high gear, getting everyone ready for Descendents. Night Birds were also a great time like they always are, and a perfect fit for this bill. Pictures of all three bands are in the gallery above. Descendents’ setlist below.
