Dillinger Escape Plan's Ben Weinman joins Suicidal Tendencies for July tour
Crossover vets Suicidal Tendencies recently parted ways with guitarist Jeff Pogan (who had been in the band since 2016), who cited “personal reasons” and later clarified that “everything is fine, great actually!” and that he is touring with Avenged Sevenfold as a guitar tech, and also working on “some new music very close to my heart with some awesome musicians, which I hope to release to you all very soon.”
It was since announced that Jeff Pogan’s replacement for Suicidal’s upcoming shows is a pretty exciting one: Ben Weinman of The Dillinger Escape Plan (who went on hiatus at the end of last year). “Really excited to be playing shows with one of my childhood favorites,” Ben wrote.
Ben will be on the road with them this month, but he doesn’t appear to be going on their Europe tour in August or playing their September US festivals Riot Fest, Louder Than Life, and River City Rockfest, so maybe the band has another replacement on the way. Stay tuned.
The July run with Ben Weinman includes the free House of Vans show in Brooklyn on Saturday, July 14. RSVP for that show is at “low quantity.”
In other news, Suicidal Tendencies drummer Dave Lombardo (formerly of Slayer and also currently of Dead Cross and The Original Misfits) recently revealed that the band have a new album due in September.
And in other other news, Dave Lombardo recently joined Ice-T’s Body Count at Helsinki’s Tuska festival for Slayer’s “Postmortem / Raining Blood.” You can watch video of that, plus a 2017 live video of Suicidal, below.
