Downtown Boys sign to Sub Pop for new album, touring with Sneaks
For a political band that gets you as fired up in Tr*mp’s America as all the protests and marches do, there aren’t many better options right now than Downtown Boys. So it’s pretty cool news to hear they signed to the beloved Sub Pop Records for their next album, which is due out later this year. It’ll follow their 2012 self-titled debut LP, their 2014 self-titled EP on Priests’ Sister Polygon label, and 2015’s Full Communism on Don Giovanni. They’re working on the new album with Fugazi’s Guy Picciotto and veteran engineer Greg Norman (who also worked on Full Communism).
Downtown Boys are also touring, starting this Friday (2/3) in DC, hitting SXSW, and ending in Brooklyn in late March. Most dates are with DC post-punks Sneaks, who also used to be on Sister Polygon but are now signed to Merge and releasing It’s A Myth on March 31. The Downtown Boy/Sneaks tour hits Brooklyn on March 24 at Baby’s All Right. Tickets go on sale Friday at noon.
UPDATE: Sneaks are also headlining their own NYC show the next night at Alphaville (3/25) with The Wants, Lily K and Horn Horse, and DJ Future Punx. Tickets are on sale.
