Drew Thomson (Single Mothers) releasing debut solo LP (stream “Break”)
Drew Thomson has been a very busy guy lately, both with as the frontman of Single Mothers (who released their latest LP Through A Wall last year) and with his Drew Thomson Foundation solo project. The Drew Thomson Foundation released the Stay EP last year, and he’s now following that with the first-ever Drew Thomson Foundation full-length album this year via Dine Alone. The album was produced by Alex Newport (At the Drive In, Knapsack, Death Cab, Bloc Party), and though stuff like title and release date are still TBA, we’re premiering the lead single, “Break.” The song is more of a mid-tempo indie rock song compared to Single Mothers’ pissed-off punk, the kinda thing that fans of The Replacements and The Hold Steady will probably dig. Drew tells us, “On the surface, ‘Break’ is about a relationship, but in broader sense, it’s about not being afraid of change and the possible consequences that can come from it. We had a lot of fun working with Alex Newport, and I think that comes through in the recording and the rest of the album.” Listen below.
Drew also has upcoming tour dates in Canada, Chicago, and Pittsburgh with PUP, Samiam, and Spanish Love Songs. All dates are listed below.
