Drive-By Truckers announce new album & tour, share new track

DBT Unraveling

Drive-By Truckers have announced their twelfth album, The Unraveling, which is due January 31 via ATO. The album was recorded at the legendary Sam Phillips Recording Service in Memphis with longtime DBT producer David Barbe and engineer Matt Ross-Spang. Guests include Patti King (The Shins), violinist/string arranger Kyleen King (Brandi Carlile), and North Mississippi All-Stars’ Cody Dickinson.

Patterson Hood says, “While a quick glance might imply that we’re picking up where 2016’s American Band album left off, the differences are as telling as the similarities. If the last one was a warning shot hinting at a coming storm, this one was written in the wreckage and aftermath. I’ve always said that all of our records are political but I’ve also said that ‘politics is personal’. With that in mind, this album is especially personal.”

The first single is “Armageddon’s Back In Town,” which sounds like a feel-good, windows-down heartland rocker until you pay attention to the lyrics. Check it out below.

DBT have also announced a 2020 world tour, including appearances at High Water Festival, Shaky Knees, and tons of headlining club shows.

The tour hits NYC’s Webster Hall on February 21. Tickets for that show are on artist presale now and the public on-sale begins Friday (11/22) at 10 AM.

All dates are listed below. Patterson Hood and Mike Cooley also have upcoming solo dates, and those are listed below too.
