Dub Thompson release video, going on tour with Ought (who now have 3 NYC shows) — 2014 dates

Dub

Dub Thompson‘s debut album for Dead Oceans is out in early June and the band have just released a video for single “No Time.” Directed by LA dreampop artist Vinyl Williams, the warped VHS is a good fit with the melted sonics of the song. Says Williams:

I created a narrative inspired by the wheel of fortune tarot card, using that as the twister dial which chooses the color that the inter-dimensional beings stretch towards. And instead of having a flat twister surface, I made the circles spheres instead, with little inhabited worlds inside of them that correspond to their tone. The narrative became heavily skewed through the process of degradation. This allowed for unexpected results, by removing my ego from the equation, and letting the imperfect technology compose for me.

Check out the video below.

The band were in NYC not too long ago but if you missed them, or live somewhere besides the Five Borroughs, Dub Thompson will be spending the summer on an extensive tour of North America. Much of it is with recent “Best New Music” recipients Ought, including a show at Brooklyn’s Baby’s All Right on July 11. Tickets for the Baby’s show go on sale tonight (4/30) at 10 PM.

NYC can see Ought before that, though, as they’re playing  Saturday (5/3) at Brooklyn Night Bazaar with Pictureplane, LODRO, Truthers and Bodyparts (which is free), and then they’ll play and Rough Trade NYC on June 20 (tickets on sale Friday [5/2] at noon]).
