Dum Dum Girls streaming new LP

by Bill Pearis

DDGs @ T5, October 2012 (more by Gretchen Robinette)

Dum Dum Girls‘ third long-player, Too True, is out next week (1/28) on Sub Pop and if you liked “Lost Boys and Girls Club” and “Rimbaud Eyes” you can now give the whole thing a spin via NPR. While it was made with usual suspects Richard Gottehrer and Ravonettes’ Sune Rose Wagner, the new record is defintely a little different for DDGs, with a host of UK influences coloring the band’s sound. It’s also got “In the Wake of You,” the most unabashed pop creation Dee Dee has ever written.

The band — with new third guitarist who will be the first male Dum Dum Girl (not counting Mike Sniper and Brandon Welchez who played at DDGs live debut at Woodist fest) — will be in NYC next Thursday (1/30) for a sold-out record release show at Mercury Lounge. They’ll then be back when their tour with Blouse stops for two shows: March 25 at Bowery Ballroom and March 26 at Music Hall of Williamsburg. Tickets for those are still available.
