Ebbot Lundberg (ex-TSOOL) covered Lorde, part of Butch Vig supergroup

Swedish psych-rock greats The Soundtrack of our Lives called in quits five years ago, but the individual members have stayed busy. Guitarist Mattias Bärjed is an in-demand film/TV composer and also plays in the live lineup of Refused, while frontman Ebbot Lundberg has released three solo albums including 2016’s For the Ages to Come which he made with The Indigo Children. This year he released a cover of Lorde’s “Royals” which he really makes his own. There’s a new video for “Royals” and you can watch that and stream some of his other solo material (which is all very TSOOL-esque) below.

Ebbot is also part of 5 Billion In Diamonds, a supergroup started by Garbage drummer and acclaimed producer Butch Vig (Nirvana, Smashing Pumpkins, etc), UK DJ James Grillo and UK producer Andy Jenks. The band also includes Alex Lee (Goldfrapp, Strangelove, Suede), rhythm section Sean Cook and Damon Reece (Spiritualized, Massive Attack and Elizabeth Fraser) and singers Sandra Dedrick (The Free Design), David Schelzel (The Ocean Blue), and Helen White (Alpha). Initially inspired by the soundtrack of ’60s film The Thomas Crown Affair, their self-titled debut came out in August and mixes psych, krautrock, baroque pop and other likeminded genres, to which Ebbot fits in perfectly. He sings lead on the album’s first single “Gravity Rules,” and you can check out the video for that, and stream the whole album below.
