Eirik of Kings of Convenience released LP as Kommode (listen); new KoC on the way

Eirik Glambek Bøe, who is one half of Kings of Convenience, makes laid-back pop under the name Kommode and just released new album, Analog Dance Music. Though that’s a title that could’ve been used for his KoC partner Erland Oye’s group The Whitest Boy Alive, Kommode’s sound is more lush, hewing closer to ’70s/’80s yacht rock styles. If you liked Kings of Convenience’s remix album, Versus, this may also float your boat. You can watch videos for “Fight or Flight or Dance All Night” and “Captain of Your Sinking Ship” and stream the whole album below.

Meanwhile, “it’s not a big secret that a new Kings of Convenience record is in the making,” say the band, though details are scant at this point. Their last album of 2009’s Declaration of Dependence. Stay tuned.
