Detroit’s Electric Six are very much of the Midwest working ethic, having pretty much delivered a new album every year since warning us about the (sexy) dangers of high voltage in 2003. Bitch, Don’t Let Me Die! is the band’s 11th album and offers up balls-to-the-wall riff rock, plinky synthpop, sleazo-disco, cowpunk and other diversions, all unified via the unwaveringly bravado of frontman Dick Valentine who muses, this time, on themes of mortality. Valentine tells us a little bit about the record:

The title of the album came together when I sent a list of lyrical themes on the album to the rest of the band and thought maybe we could vote on one of them to be the title. So in there, we had “Bitch” and “Don’t Let Me Die” among others. So going into the last week of mixing, we were under the impression that the record would just be called “Don’t Let Me Die”, but then one of guys asked if we could combine two of the ideas and have “Bitch, Don’t Let Me Die!” And so it would be….

This is our 11th album. Is it our best? Maybe. Some of the others are good too. We’ve done some good work over the years.

Bitch, Don’t Let Me Die! is out Friday (10/2). You can listen now, though, as as a stream of the whole shebang makes its premiere below.
