Elliott Smith being honored with tribute shows in 4 US cities
Singer/songwriter legend Elliott Smith would have turned 44 this year (and it’s the tenth anniversary year of his death), and in celebration of that, tributes are happening in Portland, LA, Austin and NYC. THe NYC show happens on August 10 at Bowery Ballroom. It’s being hosted by Rhett Miller (of the Old 97s) and also features Chris Thile (Nickel Creek, Punch Brothers), Mary Lou Lord (who toured with Elliott Smith) and special guests. Tickets for the NYC tribute go on sale Monday (6/17) at noon, and proceeds go to New Alternatives for LGBT Homeless Youth.
Each event features a host, performances by his “biggest fans and closest friends and collaborators,” and benefits a local charity. Info on all four tributes below…
