“Consider anything, only don’t cry!”

-Lewis Carroll, “Through The Looking Glass”

When considering and appreciating a band like Endon, it is necessary to remember one point: surreality is key. Much like how Alice made the unlikely choice to step through the mirror and ended up in a strange, backward place where storybook tales meet reality, Endon guides listeners into their own alternate reality. At first, Through The Mirror, Endon’s sophomore album, makes little logical sense. Much like their debut, MAMA, Endon continues with their blistering convergence of post-hardcore, black metal, noise and academic Modern music, but Through The Mirror superficially seems even more disjointed and maddening than any previous incarnation. Building upon their unique, fractal songwriting, incredibly over the top vocal presence, and hand-crafted “noisestruments“, this latest effort manifests itself as an impassable gate. Only when “anything” is considered, much like Carroll suggests, can Endon’s extreme sonic wings truly enfold. Endon comes from an alternate reality where evolution equates to convergence, and music slowly turns into a Cronenbergian beast of many limbs. Follow them through the looking glass and into beautiful, surreal madness.

Through the Mirror will be released by Hydra Head Records this Friday. Stare deep into your own mirror in preparation, then listen to the entire album below.
