Radiohead's Ed O'Brien made his NYC solo debut at Le Poisson Rouge (pics, setlist, full video)

Radiohead guitarist Ed O’Brien is prepping Earth, his solo debut as EOB, and is currently on a short North American tour previewing the album. His first-ever solo live show was Friday in Toronto, and after a Chicago show on Saturday, EOB hit NYC for a show Monday night at Le Poisson Rouge. Ed was grinning throughout the show, pleased to see fans turn out for his new project, also saying he was surprised that the show had sold out on a Monday night. (Oh, come on, Ed! You’re in Radiohead.) LPR was packed with Radiohead superfans and Ed and his band — Hinako Omori, Ross Chapman, Dishan Abrahams and Alvin Ford, Jr. — played all but one of Earth‘s songs, plus a few choice covers (Ulrich Schnauss, Labi Siffre, Layo & Bushwacka!).

At one point, Ed told a story about how he woke up in the morning having some self doubt about the show but then he met a 70 year old lady in a Whole Foods line. He said he gave her his tote bag and she said “you must be a musician….express yourself. Don’t hold back.” Ed said that was what he needed to hear today and dedicated a song to her. Pictures from LPR are in the gallery above, and setlist and full video from the show is below.

EOB play Los Angeles on Thursday and Ed mentioned they’d be back this summer, so far playing Bonnaroo and Newport Folk Festival.
