Erasure announce new LP 'World be Gone,' touring with Robbie Williams

Synthpop vets Erasure have announced the release of their 17th studio album, World Be Gone, due out May 19 via Mute. Politics are cited to be an influence on this latest album: “Obviously the current political climate lends itself to lots of ideas” say the band’s tech-wiz, Vince Clarke. Singer Andy Bell continues, “I think there’s an under swell of opinion, and people are slowly waking up. I’m hoping that people will take the album in a positive way, that they’ll use it as optimistic rabble-rousing music.” Check out a trailer for the new album along with the tracklist and album art below. Erasure’s last release was The Violent Flame in 2014, and they’ve recently been celebrating their 30th anniversary. They have a few headlining dates as well as a big tour with Robbie Williams across Europe. All dates are listed below (none in North America).

Speaking of politics and synthpop, Vince Clarke’s old band Depeche Mode want everyone to know that they aren’t the poster band for the alt-right (duh).
