Erin Durant releasing 'Islands,' playing shows (stream a track)

NYC-via-New Orleans singer/songwriter Erin Durant is following her 2016 debut Blueberry Mountain with her sophomore album, Islands, in June 2019 via Keeled Scales. Erin made the album with TV on the Radio’s Kyp Malone, and we’re premiering the lead single “Take A Load Off.” It’s a gorgeous song, with some Joni Mitchell-esque vocals from Erin and a nice dose of twangy pedal steel to accompany her piano playing. Here’s what she tells us about it: “All the references that inspired it are in the song. Driving through Mississippi, where suddenly the highway gets into pine woods and the smell in the air is so different from the delta and the swamp. An inn keeper. A weary traveler. Comfort for a moment. Magic of the night.” Listen to “Take A Load Off” below.

Erin will be in Austin for SXSW this month, and after that, she plays a hometown show with her Keeled Scales labelmate Jo Schornikow on March 28 at Baby’s All Right (ticket info TBA). All dates are listed below.
