As mentioned, Doug Gillard is not only back in Guided by Voices, he’s also got a new project with Robert Pollard called ESP Ohio that also includes Travis Harrison (Lifeguards producer) and Mark Shue of Beech Creeps (and current GBV bassist). ESP Ohio’s debut album is titled Starting Point of the Royal Cyclopean and will be preceded by two 7″ singles. The first is “Royal Cyclopean” which you may have already heard. The second is “Lithuanian Bombshells,” the kind of fist-pumper that Robert Pollard does so well. That song makes its premiere right here. Listen:

Starting Point of the Royal Cyclopean is out November 18 via Rockathon Records, and is available for pre-order now. Those two 7″ singles are out October 21 (limited to 500 each and sold out). Album art is above and tracklist for the ESP Ohio LP is below.

Meanwhile, Guided by Voices will be on NBC’s Last Call with Carson Daly on Friday night (9/9) where they’ll perform “My Zodiac Companion” and “The Quickers Arrive” from GBV’s most recent album (as of 12:35 PM 9/7/2016) Please Be Honest as well as “What Are All Those Paint Men Digging?” by one of Pollard’s other projects, Ricked Wicky. That airs at 1:30 AM (so technically very early Saturday morning). Set those DVRs.

Guided by Voices just played a 51-song set in Chicago over Labor Day Weekend (pics), and will be in NYC on New Year’s Eve at Music Hall of Williamsburg with The Moles (tickets).
